Meet Linda
Oliver
I AM LINDA OLIVER AND I HAVE BEEN DOING PROFESSIONAL ART FOR OVER 20 YEARS.

In 1999 I took a watercolor class in Placerville, California and, although I did not think I was very good at watercolor or had artistic ability, I knew I had to do art and learn more. While attempting to improve a painting, I pasted some dried flowers to a piece of watercolor art and “aha” I had discovered ‘mixed media’.For years I grew my own flowers, used watercolors as my art background, and made mixed media art with dried/pressed flowers. I sold my art in galleries and boutique shops in Placerville and San Diego, California.
After my first husband passed away in San Diego, I moved to Indiana to be close to my sister and mother. While living in Carmel, Indiana, I took a course on Alcohol Inks from mixed media artist, Cathy Taylor, and my art changed! I fell in love with the medium of Alcohol Ink. I loved the vibrant colors of alcohol ink and the abstract way it flowed. I will share why I love alcohol ink on my page – "WHAT IS ALCOHOL INK”.

In 2014 my husband, Reid, who I met in Indiana and I moved to St Petersburg, Florida to be with his son and wife and to escape the cold Indiana winters.I found out quickly that St Petersburg has a thriving arts and culture scene. We are both retired and have a Havanese dog, Katie, and a Maine Coon cat, Lilly

Since 1999 I have taken many art classes both online and in person. I will always continue to learn about art. I share some of the art teachers who have inspired me on my page “LEARN”. But I realized that I really missed teaching. In my previous “before art” life I was a vocational instructor and I taught computer software and medical front office. I knew I had the training to teach and had gathered enough art skills, so I decided to teach what I love – ART! For the past 10 years I have taught art: alcohol ink, acrylic pouring and mixed media. As a teacher, I truly believe that EVERYONE has an artist lurking inside. It is my intention to inspire with my art whether it is a painting I have created or teaching someone to do it themselves. DThat makes me HAPPY!
