Alcohol Ink on Other Surfaces

YOU CAN DO ART – BOTH ALCOHOL INK OR ACRYLIC PAINT ON OTHER SUBSTANCES THAN YUPO OR CANVAS.

  • To do your art on other substances like ceramic pitchers, old vases, coffee cups or wine glasses you need to prepare your substance ahead.

  • For ceramic pitchers I paint over the old colors either with Gesso or Kilz primer in white.  For clear glass I just clean the glass well and paint.

  • After I paint by drip, drop, or brush on the surface I resin it so that it can be used.  If I am doing a set of coasters, I line them up and attempt to repeat the pattern and colors.  This takes some planning.

  • I do a lot of ceramic white tiles for coasters, trivets, or framing.  I purchase the white tiles from Home Depot of Lowes or have them order a box of 100 tiles.  It is so easy and forgiving to paint on tile.

  • Resining is a whole other subject that you need to view on YouTube because it must be precise.  I have purchased ArtResin on Amazon and I am happy with the results, but you can purchase other brands for less cost.

  • People are very innovative about what they can paint on.  I got some plywood to make a table for my art room.  I used the leftover plywood to do an acrylic pour after prepping it with Kilz Primer.  Our son loves the new abstract art I created and wants to put it in his home.   The danger here is that everything I see COULD become art - stay out of my way folks!
