You Are An Artist

I have been teaching art for the past 12 years. Previously I was a vocational instructor teaching computer software. This is so much more fun! The one thing that I tell art students on their first class is anyone can do art. The only things missing are the information and instruction.

Since I teach three types of art: alcohol ink, acrylic pouring and mixed media I can honestly say these types of art are ones that anyone can learn. But, there are three steps to doing any type of art.

Steps:

1. Supplies

2. Methods

3. Encouragement

Once you know what you need to purchase you're 1/3 of the way there. I love to encourage students and I am thrilled with the results. I have never seen an end result that was a failure. OK, maybe I had to help out a bit with the method but eventually the student was able to accomplish it on their own.

My message is: Anyone can be an artist.
